Job description: We are looking for a motivated post doctoral researcher to join our dynamic research team in experimental low temperature physics at Low Temperature Laboratory of Helsinki University of Technology. The group is located on the university campus in Micronova, the reserch center for micro and nanotechnology with state-of-the-art fabrication and measurement facilities.

Your position will be funded by a European Commission FP7 project. In the project, we study adiabatic quantum dynamics and the resulting geometric phases in dissipative environments with possible applications, for example, in adiabatic and geometric quantum computing. In particular, you will work on Cooper pair pumping in an engineered environment. Thus this work is also related to the work on quantum standard for electric current and the closure of the quantum metrological triangle, on which we have a strong research activity on the campus. Furthermore, we have an ongoing effort in realizing high-speed nanoscale thermometry. Depending on the knowhow and interest of the applicant, research in these directions can also be considered. If required, you will be provided with the proper guidance in all aspects of your work including the fabrication of nanocircuits, cryogenics, measurement techniques and basic theory.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to contact prof. Jukka Pekola at jukka.pekola at tkk.fi. The applications sent by e-mail should include a CV, publication list, and contact information of the person(s) from whom a letter of recommendation can be obtained. You may also ask these persons to send the letters without further requests.
